Shay
13 Months
Male
Irish Terrier
Little Shay has had couple of stays in rescue now, we are determined that this will be his last.
Shays initial owner had some really bad health issues which resulting in Shay missing out on important early socialisation.
What Shay needs-
Breed Experienced adopter.
Adopter with some experience and willingness of dealing with some traffic reactivity.
Adopter with some experience and willingness to deal with dog/dog reactivity.
Shay can be a real chewer and there is concern that he could chew something that will do him harm. This was one of the biggest issues his previous owner came up against.
We would think crate training would be ideal for Shay, in that it would keep him safe from both destroying your home and doing himself harm.
We feel that Shay would be better suited to a home in a quieter area.
What we will do-
We will provide behaviour support by way of our Aprils Wish Program.
You would meet with a top dog behaviourist pre and post adoption in an effort to help you through any problems you are likely to come up against. The sanctuary will cover the cost of this.
With regards to suitable adoption for Shay we are happy to look both in N Ireland and the ROI in an effort to find the right home.
Shay will need to be in an adult only home.
While it may be a challenge getting Shay with another dog we don’t want to rule out the possibility that it could happen. For the best chance of success though it will have to be a female dog.
