Arlo
5 Years
Male
Beagle
Arlo has a long history at the sanctuary, having been unsuccessful rehomed a number of times over the years. Return reasons have included redirected bite when splitting up Arlo from the other dog in the household while they were fighting. Arlo has also incidents around resource guarding., We have consulted professional dog behavioursts in the decision to offer Arlo for rehoming.
They have likened finding the right person for Arlo to finding a unicorn so we need to be realistic in that Arlo may indeed stay at the sanctuary.
We are looking for an exceptional special home for Arlo.
The ideal home will
- be adult only without visiting children
- Arlo would be the only pet in the home
- An adopter with exceptional experience and knowledge on resource guarding or complex dog behaviour.
- A calm patient and responsible owner who will have strict management in place to allow Arlo to live a fulfilled and safe life, while keeping other people and animals safe.
Despite Arlo’s obvious challenges he so much love to give and we are certainly getting to see that side of him at the sanctuary. Reading Arlos body language and responding in the correct way has allowed a small group of the team here to build a beautiful relationship with Arlo. One of Arlo’s favourite things is to come and edge himself in between your legs to present himself for a bum scratch, it’s adorable.
We know this appeal will suit very few but we need to keep everyone safe, Arlo, the public, his adopter and the sanctuary reputation.
